Gilles Meloche Game Worn Mask - Cleveland Barons
Fantastic Greg Harrison-made mask was worn by Gilles Meloche and was once on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Bearing the hall’s numbered inventory sticker on the padless interior, the mask features combination leather and elastic sweat-stained straps and that cool Barons logo. After several rough years in California with the Seals, Meloche’s job remained a tough one when the franchise moved to Cleveland. Gilles carried most of the load, appearing in 105 games during the ’76-77 and ’77-78 seasons. Wonderful piece of history of a long gone team, the mask was originally part of the Richard Curry collection and obtained from Greg Harrison.

The image below is an outline of the paint job that is underneath the Barons paint job. This outline was done by Plante of the Vintage Goalie Mask Discussion Page. For anyone interested in vintage goalie masks, this is the #1 resource for information. The paint underneath was for Team Canada in the 1977 Winter Games. You can still see some of the lines in the images provided. The paint history on this mask is as follows: California Seals -> Cleveland Barons -> Team Canada -> Back to Cleveland Barons
