Game Worn Mask -
Winnipeg Jets, Hartford Whalers 1982-85
This Ed Staniowski mask was used from 1982-83 with the Winnipeg Jets. In 1983, Staniowski was traded to the Hartford Whalers. He kept the same mask but painted over with Winnipeg Jets logos with a coat of white paint. He continued using this mask all the way until 1985 with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles. The mask was also with him in Afghanistan where he escorted the Stanley Cup in 2007 for an NHL Alumni tour with the troops. Mr. Staniowski has served in the Canadian Forces since retiring from the game. He has reached the rank of lieutenant colonel in the primary reserve and has served in Afghanistan with the Cdn Infantry in 2008 and again in 2009-10. The mask itself was created and painted by Greg Harrison. It exhibits great use, but is still in perfect shape considering it has been used in over 200 professional (NHL/CHL) games.
